I didn't get into Toledo so figured I might as well try DC.  I was pretty surprised that I made it in time.

If you're still interested in getting into Toledo, it's worth putting yourself on the waiting list.  There is always a good mount of people who cancel.

I was able to register the day before at Toledo last year.

I think when I get the funds i'll registar for the toledo waiting list.  I'm excited so many of us are going to DC.  This should be a fun event.

I knew getting registared was going to be difficult but i didn't think it would take nearly 5 hrs and 4 people to do so!

How do they usually deal with number conflicts?

That's cool that so many locals are going, we will definitely have a lot of fun.

They don't have number conflicts, once a number is taken you can't get it.

I'm not insane, there's a national park ~15 minutes from the site. http://www.nps.gov/gree/ (http://www.nps.gov/gree/)

I would totally love to come and hang out, but I am planning to run a rally sprint that weekend.

That's odd, not sure why.

I would go camping but I'll be staying with my brother in Baltimore.

Garick,
Do you plan on running STS all season or maybe a little AS?

Ok, so its my first time going to the DC Pro. Any advice on hotels? What areas are recommended and what arnt. Is the site secure overnight?
I'm pretty sure at this point that it will just be me going, Rie says it might be too much for her with the babies.

The site is guarded at night, however its not in the best part of town.  Its OK to leave things there, but I'd lock them up with cable locks or something, don't just leave things laying around.

That would be great! Looks like they take reservations, but not for specific sites, so if anyone else wants to camp we can probably get sites nearby if we check in at the same time. (Limit is 2 cars / 3 tents per site)

I finally reserved a site to share with Scott and Ashley. There are a bunch available still, but you should probably book soon! I'm getting there on Thursday.

Marnie,
What site number did you reserve?  I know Jane and some of the other locals going would maybe want to be in the same area.

I'm not seeing a way to reserve a spot in any specific area, only types of sites.  Did you do something different?

No way to reserve site numbers, they just assign a spot at check-in. We could try to arrive at the same time, or, if I'm the only one getting there thursday, I can ask real nice for them to save spots nearby for the rest of you guys.  :)

I'm guessing all this based on the website, I've never been there before.

edit: I reserved a 30' site... seemed nicer than a 24' site...

Marnie - do you have any more room at your site for Paul and I (or is that me)?  We'd be happy to share costs with you, Scott & Ashley!  Jane :?

Well... I've cancelled my entrie for DC.  :(

There's just no way I'll be able to do it with the babies at home. (She's doing well and is home now.)

Maybe next year... and I'll try and hit a few locals in the not to distant future.

Unfortunately they say there is a limit of two cars per site.   Having never been there I don't know if they are lenient with that rule at all.

Sites are cheap though. $16/night and NO reservation fee!

I forgot about the cars!  Ok - we'll make a reservation today. Thanks!  Jane

Anybody ever do the wait list thing for a national event?  Slim chance that I may be going to this if I can get in via wait list.  Just wondering if I'm crazy to think that I have a chance.
