Technically, a non-stock throttle body would make the car illegal for STP.  Sounds like you'd have to run in E Street Prepared.

The SCCA recently changed their website.  I've updated the link.

What kind of racing are you interested in?

General Discussion / Re: Kart Requirments
« on: July 26, 2015, 03:41:41 pm »
Let me preface this with the fact that I don't know much about the specifics of kids karts.

That being said, the rules state a few explicit things:
JC and JB Karts can run in JA.
Clone engine is allowed in JB.
If you are 14, then you run in JA.

So, now the only real question in the chassis.  I have no idea about the Coyote, but the rules do say this:

Quote from: 19.2.A.3.c
Chassis: “BabyKart,” “Kid Kart,” and “Cadet Kart” size racing-style chassis only. Intermediate- and full-sized racing chassis are inappropriate for this class regardless of any adaptation or modifications.

So, does that chassis fit the size requirement?  If so, then you should be good to go.  If not, the other alternative would be to run it in KM, but the rules also state the minimum age for KM is 15.

With normal cars, we are very lenient with the rules, since locally, our goal is for everyone to have fun.  So if your car didn't quite fit the rules for the class, but it wasn't a real performance gain, we'd let it slide.  However, there is no leeway with Junior Karts, since it's a real safety/liability thing with our insurance.

So what exactly is the proposed change?  Just the amendment at the end?

You are supposed to bring your helmet with you to tech and show them.  Don't worry, though, I'll fix it.

Just a heads up - as soon as the Snell 2015 helmets come out, only those, 2010 and 2005 helmets will be permitted at SCCA Solo events.  So this one is good until October-ish.

Solo (Autocross) / Re: Casc or member wants to race with you
« on: March 16, 2015, 08:17:42 am »
There shouldn't be any issue, so long as you can get across the bridge!

If you are not an SCCA member, you will just have to pay the non-member fee.  If you are unsure of how our classing structure works, we will be more than happy to help you figure it out.

Solo (Autocross) / Re: 2015 Schedule?
« on: February 28, 2015, 05:56:25 pm »
We are partially there.  Events after July have to wait for the NFL schedule to be released though.

Don't worry, you can always register at, even if you don't think you'll make it.  As long as you don't pre-pay, there is no harm in registering and not showing up.  In fact, we'd prefer it that way, just because it makes things go faster/smoother at registration if you are already in the system.  Plus, we do everything possible to avoid conflicts.

General Discussion / Re: Changing Car Number?
« on: September 29, 2014, 10:53:14 am »
You can pick any number you want at any point.  You should be able to change it on, but you can always change it at the event during registration.

Solo (Autocross) / Re: Car #'s & points with OOR events
« on: August 20, 2014, 08:14:49 am »
If your car number, class, and name all match exactly, then the software does it all automatically.

However, if any one of those things isn't the same, then we have to go in manually and consolidate the points.

We try to make sure we catch everything, but you'll have time after we post them to let us know of changes that need to be made.
