The date is this Saturday, 3/27 in Rochester at 1:00 pm. It takes a couple of hours.

We REALLY need some more safety stewards. Please let Jon/David/Jim know if you are willing.

News!!! / 2010 Great Pumpkin Race Cancelled
« on: March 08, 2010, 11:26:50 am »
It is with great regret that the Western New York Region SCCA announces that it cannot host the Great Pumpkin Affair 2010 at Nelson Ledges Road Course and has had to cancel the race for this year.

Racing is an expensive proposition. With expenses going up and race attendance having gone down over the past number of years the Region has lost a tremendous amount of money on the event. The Region cannot afford to lose much more money and remain viable. The cost of racing has increased to the point that the Great Pumpkin Affair would have to see between two and two and one-half times the racing participants that it received last year in order to break even on costs – and that would be with a modest increase in fees.

The case and problems were presented to the members at the business meeting held on Tuesday March 2nd, 2010. During the meeting a lot of questions were raised and discussed regarding the issues and possible resolutions. Overall people came to the conclusion that it’s just not financially feasible to put on the race this year. The motion was made to cancel the event this year. This motion to cancel was voted on and overwhelmingly passed.

As the 2010 season progresses, we will be preparing options for the Region's potential for hosting the Great Pumpkin Affair race event in the future.

Solo (Autocross) / Re: 2010 Classes
« on: February 15, 2010, 04:25:21 pm »
Yeah, I do, along with other eligible sports cars.

Just my opinion, but, I think stock class is dying a slow death (maybe not so slow). There's a reason that the ST classes have boomed in popularity and it's not people new coming into auto-x, it's people from other classes coming into ST....

STR is going to be a national class, so I would think we would have the class -- we've always had other national provisional classes.

Might be more interest than you'd think, nobody wants to keep buying those Hoosiers all the time....

I like it better, don't know if anyone else will (or even notice for that matter).

How about a button that would give you a list of solo events? Jon did something before, probably a query against the calendar db, to get a simple list of solo events. I think many of the people (at least one) used that for reference.

News!!! / SCCA Announces Membership Drive Contest
« on: February 09, 2010, 11:57:10 am »
The 2010 SCCA National Convention was attended by over 450 members.  For the other 99% of our members that were unable to make the trip to Las Vegas this year, we announced some changes to our 2010 Membership Programs and kicked off our 2010 Membership Drive Contest!
For starters, workers completing 12+ days this membership year will receive a $45 discount on their membership dues (up from $30 in 2009).  We are also investigating adding Professional Series race days as being eligible towards days worked.
Next, effective April 1, 2010, Spouse dues will be combined into a Family Membership.  The Family Membership will be reduced to $85 (from $101 in 2009).  This will provide a savings of $3 for those couples that were Individual/Spouse combination members in 2009.  The Individual and Spouse member will each retain their current membership number.
And finally, we launched the 2010 Membership Drive Contest.  As part of this contest, the referring member discount will increase from $5 to $10.  The $10 may be applied towards your membership dues or used for purchase of SCCA merchandise or event entry fees (National Office conducted events only).  The second part of the contest is that for each member you refer, your name will be entered into a Grand Prize Drawing.  The more referrals, the more drawing entries.
1st Place - Skip Barber Racing School
2nd Place - $1,500 Tire Rack® Gift Certificate
3rd Place - $500 SCCA Merchandise Gift Certificate
Full details of the 2010 Membership Drive Contest and 2010 Membership Programs can be found here.
We are in the process of finalizing all of the details that happen behind the scenes that make these programs available, so if you have any questions please feel free to contact us via phone or email at
